Do you struggle with what to post on social?
This newsletter is for you!
Atlanta Voiceover Studio subscribes to something called The Reels Report. We get a weekly email with trending audio and prompts of how to use it for our business and social posts. I interviewed Laura, creator of the reels report, for the AVS podcast. You can listen HERE.
The Reels Report has been so invaluable and Cadden (our admin) has used the tool flawlessly (and gets better and better).
This is what led me to realize it’d be so helpful to have a list of prompts if you get stuck on what to post.
The filter for all of these is:
Does it entertain, inspire or educate your audience?
Does it showcase you as a voice actor? Does it make you seem like an expert or someone who can give value as a voice actor?
SOCIAL PROMPTS
Yeah, but can your AI voice do this?
- What unique, human attribute do you bring to the table? Can you pronounce medical words flawlessly? Can you make a funny animal noise? Can you yodel? Can you empathize and connect on a deeply emotional level? Show them what you can do. I did a reel similar to this and it got a great response.
What “team” group meetings look like as a voice actor…
- As a solopreneur, you can make fun of the fact that you wear all the hats in your business. Maybe you share the “voices” in your head while trying to make a business decision? You could propose an idea and then immediately celebrate that idea, since it’s just you. You could show yourself staring at your booth wall or microphone.
Raise your hand if…
- …you never dreamed voiceover could be your career. Then just show yourself raising your hand. Use the caption or text on screen to inspire others to pursue things they never thought would be a possibility.
Marry/Date a voice actor if…
- You need your partner to get out their words for the day.
- You like to freak out your neighbors with video game auditions.
- You also can’t stand landscapers.
When my VO client asks if I could…
- Do the script again how I think it should sound. Then smile big or raise your eyebrows. Whatever is authentic to you that shows their request is no problem.
- Do it with more energy…
- Read the legal faster…
- Add a little swagger…
Something voice actors lie to themselves about…
- I can finish this audiobook in ___ hours.
- I can go to this concert, sing to the top of my lungs and not lose my voice.
- I can go on vacation and not end up booking something (this may be something only other voice actors will understand…in that case, explain in the caption that it never fails that if you go on vacation, you’ll inevitably book something).
Skills I learned as a kid that’s helpful as a voice actor…
- Fort building (then show a video/pic of a hotel/travel VO fort)
- Making up voices for toys
- Lip trills (for VO warm-ups)
Nobody:
Voice Actors at a Big Game Party:
- Can you guys be quiet? The commercials are on.
(since the Big Game is coming up)
Money doesn’t buy happiness but it does buy some nice VO equipment.
- This is a fun way to “show off” your home studio in a way that’s entertaining.
I talk for a living but…
- It takes me 25 tries to record my voicemail.
A lot of these don’t require any fancy video editing – simply give a facial response to the question/statement OR put text over B-Roll.
If this is helpful, let me know with a quick reply. If there are a good number of responses, this may be worth doing more frequently.
Hope this is helpful!
