Animation vs Video Game Acting
with an Ear Toward Dialects Workshop

Instructor: Arianna Ratner & Tom Antonellis
The dynamic duo of Arianna Ratner & Tom Antonellis, timed perfectly with the recently ratified SAG-AFTRA Interactive Agreement, bring us a perfect class for both non-union & union voice actors to sharpen their skills! This class will focus on strategies to strengthen your video game & animation auditioning abilities as well as help you work toward building the acting chops you’ll need when you book the job! During class, Tom & Arianna will highlight and discuss the differences in working with characters for animation versus gaming, helping you to level up your skills and knowledge! With extensive experience incorporating dialects into their character work, Arianna & Tom will empower attendees by giving them the tools to tackle dialects head on, including the ever-elusive TransAtlantic/MidAtlantic dialect so frequently called for in gaming and animation.

Arianna Ratner is a director, casting director, and voice actor. She comes from a traditional acting background, incorporating those tools into her work and teaching. She can be heard in Spiderman 2, Diablo 4, Cookie Run Kingdom, Fallout 76: The Pitt, Saint’s Row, Lost Ark, World of Warcraft Dragonflight, Legion, and Battle for Azeroth, Elder Scrolls Online, The Sims 4, in The Baby Shark Brooklyn series, and many more projects. She is the only woman ever to have voiced Cinemax promos, and has also voiced promos for Food Network, Comedy Central, Max, CNN, Animal Planet, Disney, and A&E, and affiliate work for ABC/KSBW-TV. Fun fact: her voice is immortalized on the Jumpin’ Jellyfish and Avatar Flight of Passage rides at California Adventures and Disney World.
Tom Antonellis brings decades of teaching in the arts and a methodical approach to his clients. With work with actors on series like “Ted” and productions like “Joe vs Carole”, Tom can step in and guide actors (or even entire casts) to accuracy — respecting their skills and learning speeds and with great respect for the communities the actor would be representing by performing in a dialect.
As an actor & award-winning voice actor, Tom Antonellis does everything: from voicematching (Avengers: Endgame) to commercials (Boston Celtics) to video games (The Walking Dead: Match 3 Tales), and more — including yes, even singing.
