Did you get into voiceover BECAUSE of animation? Don’t miss Arianna Ratner’s Animation and Video Game class!
In the meantime, here are some great animation tips from Katie Leigh to help you elevate your animation auditions.
Have you heard of Katie Leigh? You’ve definitely heard of some of the characters she’s voiced: Connie Kendall in the world’s longest running international radio drama, Adventures in Odyssey, Baby Rowlf in the Emmy Award-Winning Jim Henson’s Muppet Babies cartoon series, Honker Muddlefoot in Darkwing Duck, Sheila the Thief in Dungeons and Dragons, Richie in Richie Rich, Sunni Gummi of Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Alex in Totally Spies and young Han Solo for Lego Star Wars: Padawan Menace, and many others.
Katie often joins us to lead her Advanced Animation Workshop, but until we get her next workshop scheduled, be sure to check out our Acting for Animation & Video Games Class with Arianna Ratner. Arianna has tons of experience as a voice actor & director for video games & animation including Spider-Man 2, Diablo 4, World of Warcraft and more!
Check out these 3 tips from Katie Leigh to help your animation auditions –
1| MOVE YOUR BODY
If you have taken our Intro to VO Workshop, you’ll remember Brian says “Your voice follows what the body does.” If you’re giving a voice to an animated character, don’t forget to be animated yourself.
2| DON’T FORGET THE FEELINGS OF YOUR CHARACTER
Katie says, “When you FEEL it HERE (in your heart), We HEAR it HERE (ears).” Don’t forget to express the genuine feelings of your character AND I would add, WHY they feel that way.
3| PICTURE THE CHARACTER LOOKING BACK AT YOU IN THE MIRROR
Katie says this is a great way to visualize YOU as the character. Imagine there’s a mirror in front of you and you see the character in the reflection.
Thanks, Katie!
Hope you can join us for Arianna’s Acting for Animation & Video Games Class!
