There’s a great irony in voice over:
You sound exactly like yourself everywhere…
except in your recording environment.
That read you’re struggling with at the mic?
It would probably sound just fine if you were saying it in the kitchen, the living room, or across the table from someone you know.
But the second we step up to the mic, many of us start chasing something else:
Perfection.
Authority.
The “right” sound.
In other words, we start sounding like a Voice Actor instead of a real person.
And that’s the problem.
What gets in the way is often self-doubt.
We stop trusting that we bring life to the script and start worrying that we’ll somehow ruin it.
So instead of speaking with confidence, we start:
- looking for approval
- guessing what the casting director “might like”
- trying to manufacture a sound
Rather than trusting that what we already bring is:
- authentic
- real
- believable
- bookable
So what do you do about that?
I’m Steve Henderson, and I teach Secrets to Sounding Like You at Atlanta Voiceover Studio.
In this class, I’ll help you prove to yourself that:
- you are already 100% good at being you
- there is no reason to “craft” a sound
- you already have decades of experience speaking naturally as yourself
And from there, I’ll show you techniques to help bring out a voice that is:
- real
- true
- believable
- engaging
So you can focus less on:
“Did I SOUND good?”
…and more on:
“Did I communicate something REAL?”
Because that’s what voice over needs right now.
People don’t want to be commanded to.
They don’t want to be “announced at.”
They respond to someone they trust.
And that person can be you.
In my next 12-week Secrets to Sounding Like You class, starting Wednesday, May 6, I’ll show you how your own opinion, point of view, and testimony can become your greatest strength in the booth.
If you’ve been wanting to sound more authentic, believable, and connected in your reads, this is the class you’ve been looking for.
Check out past student’s experiences…
