Mike and I have been LOVING the VO Mentorship Membership launched this past January. One of the best parts is the CHAT feature. You can ask questions, upload auditions for review/feedback, share your accountability goals and more.
One recent topic was STAYING COOL in your VO BOOTH. The men showed UP with their recs, so I wanted to pass them on to you.
TIP: Use an Instant Cooling Towel
Jack Allison says he will use an instant cooling towel for long days in the booth. Adding a little water to the towel activates it and keeps it cool for hours.
TIP: Add a Booster Duct Fan
Rob Everett added a booster duct fan and hose to his PVC pipe booth and said it was a big help. This fan advertises that it’s “Low Noise.”
Here’s an upgraded version if you’re a little ‘extra’…
TIP: Use an Ice Pack
Albert Yoo takes an ice pack and big cup of ice water in his booth for long sessions. He also uses a dehumidifier 30 minutes before getting into the booth to decrease the humidity of the air.
TIP: Wear your Swimsuit
This was an actual tip and I don’t disagree. In the hot Atlanta summer months, I’ve definitely gone naked in the booth (or at least partially). Weird how that client never booked me again.
Jk…never during a booked session (in case they want the camera on).
See all the Booth Cooling Solutions HERE.
Of course, don’t forget to keep hydrating!
How do you stay cool?
