I thought it’d be fun to ask voiceover directors how they would define certain terms heard a lot in sessions. Today’s term is “romance the copy.” 

The expert? Rudy Fernandez, Creative Director Porter Novelli

Here’s his take:

Rudy is a fantastic director and he’s usually very specific in his direction, so he wouldn’t normally give a vague direction like this but he’s right. Another way I’ve heard this direction given is when you’re describing food. That juicy burger needs to sound like it’s juicy and delicious.
